I’d hoped that it would’ve been a while longer before I had to write this post.
Having received note of Oz’s departure a fortnight ago, that leaves us with one host; myself. I was always under the impression that even though the Daevacast was all hosted under my name, that I was simply the guardian of the identity so to speak. I always thought that the Daevacast belonged to each host equally, and I was just the one that owned it on paper. As such Circe, Gemmeni, Oz, and myself are what made Daevacast what it is.
However, with Circe, Gemmeni and Oz now having left the podcast, I feel that any attempt I make to resurrect the Daevacast will turn it into something that it was not, or change it in a way that the other hosts would not have wanted. With that said, I feel I have no choice other than to close the Daevacast down. I will be leaving the site as it is for at least a few months as I decide what to do with it.
To clarify, this is not because it wasn’t the moneymaker I was hoping it would become. At best, I wanted it to draw even on what little costs it incurs. Running the podcast with the other podcasters was fun, and now, having lost that dynamic that we spent at least three months creating, it doesn’t feel right posting up another advert for more podcasters.
I am sorry for those that have been led on, thinking there would be another season of podcasts in the New Year. Running the Daevacast, or even starting it up again (depending on how you look at things) wouldn’t be fun now, or three months down the line whether it got on its’ feet again or not. We’ve lost the content creators in the other podcastsers, we’ve lost our main link into NCSoft with Ayase, and I feel that we have also lost what the Daevacast was founded on; the community surrounding it.
The rest of the podcasters, as far as I know, no longer play Aion. But if you’re on Perento and are Elyos, I’m still playing. Hit me up as Daemion, Knute or Jormungandr.
Daevacast. July – December 2010
P.S. I will be starting up a second, simpler Aion-related project in the New Year. I’ll broadcast it on my personal twitter when it’s ready.
